April 2026 Progress Report
April was a big month for the MVL — the biggest milestone yet, in fact. I missed the update for March, so let's jump right in.
April was a big month for the MVL — the biggest milestone yet, in fact. I missed the update for March, so let's jump right in.
February was a relatively quiet month in terms of progress on the layout, but exciting and busy nevertheless. Due to scheduling and other things, we didn't have many Monday night work sessions but I still tried to keep progress going on other nights of the week. I also went to North Carolina with friends for an operations weekend. More on that later.
January’s primary focus has been all things helix. Over winter “break” (when my kids were on break, so we were ‘off’), I worked on building the base for the helix to prepare for building the actual helix.
Sometimes, progress doesn’t mean pushing forward — it means taking a step back to reset and refocus.
The new Mill Valley Lines model railroad is a layout of many "firsts" for me. Here's a brief introduction to the project and some of what you can expect to see in the coming months.
